Troubleshooting

Basic Troubleshooting:

Check that you already have a connection to the Internet.

  • If you are on campus, check that you are connected to the eduroam WiFi network.
  • GlobalProtect will NOT work while connected to the csuchico WiFi network.

If GlobalProtect hangs on "Connecting..." after installing on a Mac, please check to see if GlobalProtect has been set to allow or if a prompt shows it's been blocked. Go to System Preferences -> Security & Privacy. Under the General tab, please see if Palo Alto Networks has been blocked. If so, please unblock the app. This may require you to enter your system administrator password.

Generating a Log File

In the course of troubleshooting an issue, you may be asked to generate a log file. Only send Log Files to IT Support Services when asked.

  1. Click the small Globe icon in the system menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Select the 3 horizontal bars in the top right of the GlobalProtect window.
  3. From the new menu, select "Settings".
  4. Under GlobalProtect Settings, select the "Troubleshooting" tab.
  5. Click the button for "Collect Logs" on the right.

  6. After the process completes, select "Open Folder" on the right.
  7. The file "GlobalProtectLogs.tgz" should be highlighted, this is the file you will need to provide for additional assistance.
