Summary
This article details minimum recommended configuration requirements for student-owned computers and the list of currently supported operating systems. Computers that fall below the recommended configuration may still work with ResNet however, technical support for those systems is not guaranteed.
Body
Minimum Tech Specs
- Operating System: Windows 10/11 or macOS version 10.16 (Big Sur) and higher
- Processor Speed: 2.0GHz (PC/Mac)
- RAM: 4 GB
- Hard Disk: 60 GB (120 GB or greater recommended)
- Wireless: 802.11b/g/n
Note: Typically, any computer purchased in the last three years will meet these requirements
Windows
Windows 10 and 11 are fully supported by Wi-Fi
- You must have automatic updates for Windows turned on.
- You must have an up-to-date anti-virus. Most anti-viruses will work. If you need an antivirus, we recommend Avira.
- You must have a firewall enabled, either the built-in Windows Firewall or one provided by an anti-virus.

Mac
macOS versions 10.16 and above are supported for Wi-Fi
- You must have the latest OS updates. You can check by going to Software Update under the Apple button.
- You must have an up-to-date anti-virus. Most anti-viruses will work. If you need an antivirus, we recommend Avira.
- You must have a firewall enabled, either the built-in firewall or one provided by an antivirus.

Linux
Eduroam is not fully supported on Linux distributions.
Gaming Consoles
Gaming consoles will need to be connected to the csuchico wireless and should automatically allow internet access once connected.
If your gaming console does not connect, please contact ITSS at 530-898-4357 and provide the MAC Address of your device.
