Logging Out of a Classroom or Conference Room PC

Introduction

When you are finished using a Windows 11 PC in a classroom or conference room, you should log out to protect your account and prepare the computer for the next user.

The preferred method is to use the Log Out or Reboot shortcuts on the desktop rather than signing out through the Windows Start menu. Classroom Technology Services (CTS) has configured the desktop shortcuts to run a script that restores display and audio settings to their default values before signing out. This helps ensure the computer is ready for the next user.

Solution / How-to

  1. Locate the Log Out or Reboot shortcut on the Windows desktop.
  2. Double-click the Log Out or Reboot shortcut.
  3. Wait for Windows to sign you out and return to the login screen.
