Using MOVEit for secure data transfer

What is MOVEit?

MOVEit allows campus users to securely send encrypted files to other campus users. Consider using MOVEit if you need to safely transfer sensitive information on campus.

Please note: Packages are only kept in MOVEit for 90. After which they are deleted and non-recoverable. 

Registering for MOVEit

  1. Navigate to the Cal State MOVEit site: https://transfer.data.calstate.edu/secure/human.aspx
  2. One on the site, click the large red "Single Sign On" button at the bottom of the screen. 
  3. Select 'Chico' from the dropdown menu and press Login.
  4. Sign in with your Chico State username and password, then approve the Duo verification prompt. 
  5. You should now be registered and signed in to MOVEit.

Sending MOVEit Packages

Note: Only registered users with MOVEit will be able to receive your sent packages.

  1. Once signed in, click "Send Package"

  2. The next screen will look and act similarly to a regular email. Enter the email address of the person you are trying to connect with.

  3. Click "Send" and your package will be securely delivered! There will be a confirmation message at the top of the screen.

 

Receiving MOVEit Packages

  1. If someone sends you a message or replies to you via MOVEit, you should receive an email with the subject "New Package is Waiting". It will look similar to the one below:

  2. Click the link at the bottom of the email. You can also copy and paste it into your browser. 
  3. It may have you sign in to MOVEit. If so, follow the instructions above for Registering for MOVEit. 
  4. When you sign in, the received package should appear under the "New Packages" section. 
  5. If you need to view an older Package, select "Packages" on the left. You should be able to find older Packages in the Inbox.
