Guest Network Registration Requirements

The csuchico-guest Wi-Fi network is intended for campus visitors and uses a self-registration system to issue a temporary username and password. Access is valid for up to 9 hours. If you need additional time, you may complete the registration process again.

Current Chico State students, faculty, and staff should use Eduroam wireless (or csuchico for gaming consoles or smart devices) instead of csuchico-guest.

To connect, you will need:

  1. A Wi-Fi–enabled device you want to connect (such as a laptop, smartphone, or tablet)
  2. A valid email address and phone number that you can access during registration (for example, through cellular data or text message)
    • Standard SMS and data rates may apply based on your cellular provider.

Each email address can only be used to register one device. To register multiple devices, you must use a different email address for each device.

Known Guest Network Issues

Not Receiving Login by Text Message

Some guests report not receiving the login information by text message. Try the following:

  1. Make sure you have a strong cellular signal. Some campus buildings have limited cell reception, which may prevent text messages from being delivered.
  2. Confirm that you selected the correct mobile carrier during registration.
    • Not all carriers are listed. If yours is not listed or you are unsure which carrier you use, register using your email address instead.

If you still cannot receive the message, check your email for your login information.

Device Not Redirecting to the Registration Page

If your device is not automatically redirecting to the registration page, try the following:

  1. Use your device's default web browser (e.g., Apple devices use Safari, Windows devices use Edge).
  2. Navigate to a new website, such as youtube.com.

If it still won't launch, manually go to the following link: https://chi-cppm-vip.csuchico.edu/guest/csuc_guest_register.php

"This Connection Is Not Private" Warning

Some devices may display a "This Connection Is Not Private" message during setup. If this happens:

  1. Select Show Details or Advanced.
  2. Choose Visit this Website to continue.
