Getting Started on a Loaner Laptop

Overview

This article provides step-by-step instructions for signing into a Chico State loaner laptop for the first time. The process includes connecting to Wi-Fi, entering your campus credentials, and completing DUO two-factor authentication.

Steps

1. Connect to Wi-Fi

1. Turn on the loaner laptop.
2. A list of available Wi-Fi networks will appear.
3. Click your home Wi-Fi network and click Connect.
   • If on campus, click the eduroam network.
4. Enter your Wi-Fi password, then click OK.
   • If on campus, enter your username and password.
5. Once connected to a Wi-Fi network, click Next

2. Begin Sign-in

1. Enter your Chico State email address, then click Next.
2. Enter your Chico State password, then click Sign in.

3. Complete DUO Verification

1. Approve the DUO push notification or enter a DUO passcode, depending on your chosen verification method.
   • If you need assistance with DUO, Contact IT Support Services.
2. Click Yes, this is my device to complete setup

4. Finish Setup

The laptop may take up to 15 minutes to fully setup your profile. You may wait for the laptop to complete setup, or click Continue anyway at the bottom right to begin using the device. After setup, you will see a standard login screen for future sign-ins.

Troubleshooting

• Can't connect to Wi-Fi? Make sure your password is correct and the network is in range.
• Forgot your Chico State password? Visit https://portal.csuchico.edu to reset it.
• DUO issues? Use an alternative method like SMS or call, or contact IT Support.
