Place a Call on Hold or Transfer a Call in Teams

Place a Call On Hold

During a call, you may need to place a call on hold. To do so:

  1. In the Call window, click the Hold button (pause icon).

  2. The screen should indicate the caller is on hold and display the time on hold. 
  3. Click the Resume button (play icon) to resume the call.

Transfer a Call

During a call, you may need to transfer a call to another person.

  1. In the Call window, click the Transfer button (phone icon).
  2. You can choose either Transfer or Consult then Transfer
  3. Type in the name or number of the person you want to transfer the call to. 
  4. Choose what you want to do with the call: 
    • Transfer to an audio call
    • Transfer to their work voicemail
    • Transfer to their work number
    • You can check Ring back if there's no answer if you want the call to come back to you if the recipient doesn't answer.
    • You can check Include a call topic for the recipient if you want to send a notice of what the call is about.
  5. When you've selected the options you want, click Transfer.
