Prerequisites
- You must be a current Chico State student, faculty, or staff member in a state-supported unit.
- Non-eligible groups include:
- Associated Students (AS) or Chico State Enterprises (CSE) staff
- Retired or emeritus faculty and staff
- Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) or alumni students
- Volunteers, guests, or external consultants
- You must have access to ChatGPT via a supported web browser, the ChatGPT desktop app, or the mobile app. See the section below for instructions on installing the apps (optional).
Logging into ChatGPT Edu
To log in:
- Go to ChatGPT.
- Select the option to Log in.
- Enter your Chico State email address.
- If prompted for a login method, choose Chico SSO.
- Single Sign-on (SSO) is enforced in ChatGPT. You cannot sign in with Google, Microsoft, etc. You will be redirected to the Shibboleth page upon entering your Chico State email.
- You will be redirected to the Chico State Shibboleth login.
- Log in using your Chico State username and password.
- Approve your login with Duo.
Once logged in, you will have access to ChatGPT Edu features available to your role.
Installing the ChatGPT Apps (Optional)
ChatGPT Edu is also available via desktop and mobile applications. This is not required to use Chico State's ChatGPT Edu Workspace.
For campus-managed devices, check Software Center or Company Portal (Windows) or Self Service (Mac) to install the ChatGPT app.

Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues using or logging into ChatGPT Edu:
- Ensure you are logging in using the Chico SSO method, listed above.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then try logging in again.
- Confirm that you are part of an eligible user group.
- Non-eligible groups include:
- Associated Students (AS) or Chico State Enterprises (CSE) staff
- Retired or emeritus faculty and staff
- Professional & Continuing Education (PCE) or alumni students
- Volunteers, guests, or external consultants
If issues persist, submit a ChatGPT Edu Support ticket.
