Common Learning Environment

When instructors are teaching multiple sections of the same course, they may wish to combine multiple lecture sections into one course shell, so that they can share a single content space, including assignments and tests, for multiple populations of students.

To request a Common Learning Environment, instructors should contact their academic department office. Typically the instructor will need to talk to an Academic Support Coordinator who manages course data in PeopleSoft.

When an academic department first creates a Common Learning Environment (CLE), Blackboard Learn should handle the change automatically within 24 hours; however, when changing a CLE, such as by removing sections or changing the master section, system administrators will usually need to manually review the changes to avoid any loss of data. When changing a CLE, please contact DLT to describe the changes made in PeopleSoft.
