Who This Article Is For
This article is for Chico State faculty, staff, and other eligible ChatGPT Edu users who are interested in helping test selected ChatGPT Edu features before they are released to the broader campus community.
About the ChatGPT Feature Tester Group
The ChatGPT Feature Tester group is a limited group of Chico State users who may receive early access to new ChatGPT Edu features before campus-wide release.
Feature Testers help the Division of IT evaluate:
- How usable a new feature is in realistic campus scenarios.
- What types of questions or support requests users may have after release.
- Whether the proposed documentation is clear, complete, and useful.
- Whether additional communication or training may be needed before the feature is released more broadly.
Feature Testers are not required to be Change Champions. They may provide feedback on the feature, documentation, or process, but feedback is not required.
How Feature Testers Support ChatGPT Edu Releases
When a new ChatGPT Edu feature is ready for broader usability review, the Division of IT may make the feature available to members of the Feature Tester group before releasing it to the full campus.
During this phase, Feature Testers may be asked to:
- Use the new feature in common or realistic Chico State scenarios.
- Review any draft instructions, knowledge base articles, or support materials provided with the feature.
- Share optional feedback about usability, documentation, or support concerns.
- Report any unexpected behavior or concerns through the process provided by the Division of IT.
Feedback from Feature Testers helps the Division of IT make informed decisions about campus readiness, support planning, and documentation needs.
How to Request Access
To request access to the ChatGPT Feature Tester group, submit a ChatGPT Edu support and feedback ticket.
- Go to the ChatGPT Edu Support / Feedback service request form.
- In the request, state that you would like to be added to the ChatGPT Feature Tester group.
- Submit the ticket.
- The Division of IT will review the request.
- If approved, you will be added to the Feature Tester group when there is a need for additional testers.
Membership is accepted on an as-needed basis. The Division of IT aims to keep the group small enough to support effective testing while still representing a broad range of disciplines and roles across Chico State.
Feature Tester Expectations
Feature Testers help evaluate new ChatGPT Edu features before they are released campus-wide. Participation is intended to be lightweight and focused on practical use.
Feature Testers should understand that:
- Early access may only be available for selected features.
- Not every request to join the group may be approved immediately.
- Features may still be under review and may change before campus release.
- Feedback is appreciated but not required.
- Feature access may depend on testing needs, support readiness, or campus release timelines.
When feedback is requested, Feature Testers may comment on the usefulness of the feature, the clarity of documentation, or any support needs they anticipate for the broader campus community.
