Some Inclusive Access (IA) courses use Macmillan materials that are delivered through Canvas using the Follett-Willo system. Linking these materials properly ensures students can access their required textbooks or resources on the first day of class. This guide explains how to link your Macmillan materials through a Canvas module using the Follett-Willo External Tool.

Prerequisites

To complete this guide the following must be met:

  • Instructor access to the Canvas course
  • The course must be designated as an Immediate Access course
  • Adopted courseware through the Wildcat Bookstore

Step-by-Step Instructions

There are several ways to link Macmillan Achieve materials in Canvas. Most instructors should try search (no token) first. If your materials don’t appear, use the token method (code 680465).

Method 1: Without a token (search)

To link Macmillan Achieve materials by searching, do the following:

  1. In your Canvas course, select Modules.
  2. On the module where you want to add materials, select + on the module title bar.
  3. In the item type menu, select External Tool.
  4. Scroll and select Follett-Willo Digital Delivery 1.1.
  5. In the new window, select Continue.
  6. On the Course Pairing page, select Pair My Course Manually.
  7. Use the search box to find your materials by course name, author, edition, or ISBN.
  8. Complete any on-screen confirmations (for example, Confirm and Initialize Pairing).
  9. When prompted to add links, select Macmillan Tools, then select Add Links. You may add other available links as desired.
  10. Back in Canvas, select the Macmillan Tools item you just added.
  11. Select Link to Achieve and sign in to your Macmillan instructor account if prompted.
  12. Choose a course to Associate. If no courses appear, create a course in your Macmillan Achieve account, then return and associate it.
  13. After association, the Link to Achieve option disappears. Select Macmillan Content to add the specific Macmillan links you want in your module.

Method 2: With a token (code 680465)

To link Macmillan Achieve materials using a token, do the following:

  7. Select Use a Token and enter 680465.
  8. When prompted to choose a term, select an appropriate term (you may choose any fall term if you’re unsure).
  9. Complete any on-screen confirmations (for example, Confirm and Initialize Pairing).
  10. When prompted to add links, select Macmillan Tools, then select Add Links. You may add other available links as desired.
  11. Back in Canvas, select the Macmillan Tools item you just added.
  12. Select Link to Achieve and sign in to your Macmillan instructor account if prompted.
  13. Choose a course to Associate. If no courses appear, create a course in your Macmillan Achieve account, then return and associate it.
  14. After association, the Link to Achieve option disappears. Select Macmillan Content to add the specific Macmillan links you want in your module.

Troubleshooting

  • I can’t find my materials by search: Use the token method with code 680465.
  • I’m asked to pick a term when using the token: Select the appropriate term; if unsure, choosing a fall term is acceptable.
  • I don’t see any courses to associate in Achieve: Sign in to your Macmillan Achieve account and create a course, then return to Macmillan Tools and associate it.
  • After associating, I can’t find my links: Open Macmillan Tools in your module, then use Macmillan Content to add or manage links.
