Body
The Sandbox is a flexible and private workspace designed for Content Contributors to draft, revise, and experiment outside the formal workflow. It’s especially useful for collaborative efforts, early-stage editing, and refining content before submitting it for publication.
Best Use Cases
Consider working in the Sandbox if you want to:
- Collaborate with colleagues or stakeholders on a page before entering it into the workflow.
- Edit freely and experiment with content structure.
- Test layouts and components in a low-risk environment.
This environment offers the freedom to iterate without the constraints of workflow approvals, making it ideal for early content development and collaboration.
Accessing the Sandbox
All Content Contributors have access to the Sandbox and have a folder labeled by username. To find your Sandbox folder:
- Use the "Go to a Site" option and search for "Sandbox".
- Locate the folder with your username.
- OR enter your username into the top-right search box to locate your folder directly.
Bringing Content In
You can perform a wide range of editing tasks in the Sandbox. Here are a few important things to keep in mind:
- It is recommended to use the copy feature to safely duplicate the live page into the Sandbox. Do not use the Move option - it will unpublish the original page from the live site.
- Content Contributors can publish pages to the dev site without initiating a workflow.
- Once you are ready to move the page back over to the live site, use the copy or move feature to place the page in the appropriate destination folder.
- Copying/ moving a page into a live site will initiate a workflow. Be sure to clearly note that the submission is intended to replace an existing page. This information helps Web Services make the necessary updates on the admin side.
Steps
- Locate the page in the left-side nav.
- Right-click the page item to open the drop-down menu.
- Select the More option to view more selections.
- Select the Copy option.
- A pop-up window will appear. Change the new folder location to your Sandbox folder.
- Select copy.
