Zoom uses your display name from the Chico State Account Center by default. However, you may want to display a different name in Zoom meetings—such as including your pronouns or department—for clarity and professionalism. This guide explains how to update your display name in Zoom, which may occasionally need to be reset manually if your name reverts unexpectedly.

Prerequisites

  • A Chico State Zoom account

  • Access to your Zoom profile at csuchico.zoom.us/profile

  • You must be signed in using your Chico State credentials

Step-by-Step Instructions

To change your Zoom display name, do the following:

  1. Go to csuchico.zoom.us/profile
  2. Next to your current display name, select Edit
  3. In the Display Name field, enter your preferred name (e.g., Your Name (pronouns) - Chico State) [1]
  4. Select Save to apply your changes [2]

Now your display name in Zoom meetings will reflect your updated information.

Troubleshooting

  • If your display name resets unexpectedly, it may be due to a rare account sync issue or a settings change from another device. Simply reapply your preferred display name using the steps above.

  • If the Edit option is not visible or changes do not save, try signing out of Zoom and signing back in at csuchico.zoom.us, then attempt the update again.
