Submit a Video Assignment

Submitting a video assignment in Canvas with Kaltura is easy. To submit a video assignment, do the following:

  1. Navigate to the assignment where you want to submit your Kaltura video. This can typically be found under the "Assignments" or "Modules" section of your course.
  2. Within the Rich Content Editor (RCE), select the Kaltura icon [1]. If you don't see the Kaltura icon directly, use the plug icon (Apps) [2] and select Embed Kaltura Media [3].

  3. You will be presented with your Kaltura media library. Here, you can either choose an existing video from your library or create a new one. If you need to record a new video, follow the prompts to do so.
  4. After selecting or creating your video, a prompt will appear asking, "Would you like to submit media as assignment?" Select Yes, please.

  5. Finally, ensure you submit your assignment. Even after embedding your Kaltura video, you must select the Submit Assignment button for your assignment submission to be complete.

Troubleshooting

  • Video Still Processing: If your video still shows as processing while you submit your assignment, you can submit the assignment anyway. The video embed will automatically update to show the submitted video when it's done processing. If the video is still processing after several hours, contact Learning Technology Services and include a link to your assignment submission.
  • Submission Errors: Ensure you've selected the Submit Assignment button after embedding your video. If you encounter errors during submission, clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try a different browser.
  • Access Issues: If you cannot access Kaltura or see Rich Content Editor, your assignment may not be set up to accept video submissions. Reach out to your instructor for guidance.
  • Application Error: If you get an application error when trying to submit a Kaltura video assignment, select My Media from the global navigation. After authorizing the application, try submitting your assignment again.
