Accepting or Declining Financial Aid Awards

This article will guide students through accepting, declining, or modifying their financial aid awards in the Student Center.

Accept or Decline Awards

1. Navigate to the Student Center. You can do this using the link in the Chico State Portal.
2. In the left sidebar, scroll to Financials and click Accept/Decline Awards.
3. In the New tab, you can see offers that have not yet been accepted or declined. 
   
    
4. Click the Action dropdown where you can select to either Accept or Decline the award
   • For loans and work-study offers, you may reduce the amount to accept if you don't want the full offer. 
5. Click Submit to finalize your selections. 

Once you have accepted or declined awards, you have a short time to make changes to your selections. 

Changing Award Acceptance

If you accepted an award you no longer need and it has not yet been disbursed:

1. Navigate to the Accepted tab and click the three dots on the right for Advanced Actions.
2. You should be able to change or decline awards. 

If you decline an award, the offered amount will be set to $0.00. You are not able to make changes to declined offers once they are made. If you made an error, contact the Financial Aid & Scholarship Office; they may be able to re-offer the reward for you to accept.
