Timed Responses

The Law

Section 508 Part 1194.22 Subpart p states:
When a timed response is required, the user shall be alerted and given sufficient time to indicate more time is required.

Alert people when there is a time response required and provide more time for a person when it is needed.

What to Do

The alert system needs to be conveyed in an accessible method. It should give an option that allows a person to request more time to read content or complete a task such as submitting an assessment. Everyone needs to be given adequate time to complete the task. People should have control over content changes on a page instead of automated changes on a Web page. There should be a way to turn off automatic changes to a page and a link to get updated information.
